CMII: The Path to Integrated Process Excellence is a Sequel to the 2002 and 2006 Editions of the CMII (CM2) Book. The 2002 and 2006 editions described a business process infrastructure that can accommodate change and keep requirements clear, concise and valid. This 2013 sequel builds on that capability and takes it to the next level — to integrated process excellence (IPE).
Integrated process excellence is achieved when (1) all core business processes are fully integrated and automated, (2) resources being spent on corrective action are declining and (3) real improvements are becoming increasingly robust
This book is for organizations operating in the "corrective action mode" with no plan to escape. It is for the core business process owners and those who work in the domain of configuration management. That is where the essential building blocks reside and the most important improvements need to be made.
Integrated process excellence does not necessarily come later. As the process infrastructure improves, processes supported by the infrastructure become increasingly efficient. Continuous process improvement is a matter of fine-tuning the infrastructure until achieving the desired level of proficiency.
The desired proficiency is achieved when the resources spent on corrective action approach zero.
