Challenges of Implementing CMII

Represents a Change in Culture

The larger the organization, the more difficult it is to change existing practices. CMII touches every organizational activity. Every individual becomes a creator and/or a user. Each individual becomes accountable for what they do. To implement CMII is to change the culture.

Must Deal with Legacy Systems

The systems required to enable and support a fully implemented CMII process represents a broad range of functionality. Some of the needed functionality may exist, some will not. Resolving such issues is likely to be the biggest challenge of all.Must Begin With Education

It is necessary to understand how CMII fits into the process of running the business before it can be successfully implemented. What does it cause us to do that we are not already doing? And how does CMII make it better? And what is the impact on the bottom line?

These are valid questions. Their answers need to be understood. Those answers are the basis for implementing CMII. Those who know the answers also understand the two diagrams shown below. To implement CMII is to transition from practices represented by the diagram on the left to practices represented by the diagram on the right.
